Jannie 4.0/4.1: Robot does nothing anymore
1. Check if the ON/OFF button on the side/bottom is ON.
1.1 Does the robot turn on manually but not with the remote control? Check if the remote control batteries are dead, then:
- Clean the contact points on the bottom of the robot and on the charging station thoroughly.
1.2 Does the robot respond, but immediately search for the charging station?
- The battery is not charged. Place the robot on the charging station.
- The battery is not charging? -> Make sure the contact points on the robot and the charging station are completely clean. Go over them with a scouring pad to ensure they make good contact.
- The battery is dead. Order a new battery here.
1.3 Does the robot not respond and only the light on the charging station is on?
- Try changing the on/off switch on the bottom of the robot about 5 times and then turn Jannie back to 'on' and then place it on the charging station.
1.4 The robot does not start and beeps once. The dustbin is missing or not properly attached.
2. Check the status of the robot by looking at page 6 of the manual. Click HERE for the Manual
Jannie 4.0/4.1: The robot cannot find the charging station (properly).
- The robot does not make good contact with the charging station, so it does not charge.
- The charging station is in a difficult-to-find place for the robot. Move the charging station to an easy-to-find place with enough space around the charging station.
- Make sure the contact points on the robot and the charging station are completely clean. Go over them with a scouring pad to make sure they make good contact.
Jannie 4.0/4.1: The robot drives backward
Possible causes;
- Dark spots (e.g. a mat) on the floor. The robot could see these as a drop-off and the anti-fall sensors could then intervene.
- Bright sunlight can create a high contrast on the floor. This could make the robot think there is a drop-off and drive backwards.
The robot's bumper sensors cannot see properly.
- Clean the bumper thoroughly
- Press the bumper firmly a few times at the side brushes. The switch behind the bumper may be stuck.
- The fall sensors see something.
- Clean the fall sensors thoroughly.
Jannie 4.0/4.1: Beeps on the charging station
The robot needs an update to fix this.
Send an email to service@zoefrobot.nl stating that the robot beeps when it is on the charging station.
Jannie 4.0/4.1: Drives for a very short time and then looks for the charging station.
- The battery is not properly charged.
- The battery is not charged. Place the robot on the charging station.
- The battery is not charging? -> Make sure the contact points on the robot and the charging station are completely clean. Go over them with a scouring pad to ensure they make good contact.
- The battery is dead. Order a new battery here.
- A new battery can be easily replaced by unscrewing the cover on the bottom (between the side brushes). The old battery is attached with a plug. You can press this in and detach it. Then you can connect and place the new battery.
Battery degradation;
A battery will decrease in operating time over time. There are various causes for this and it is not always predictable. What certainly helps is to always leave the robot ON on the charging station. This keeps it in the best condition.
The lifespan of the battery is influenced by the following factors; Is the robot always ON on the charging station? Surfaces the robot drives on, environment (does the robot have to turn and maneuver a lot, suction power strength (lower suction power means longer operation and vice versa), temperature (in very hot or cold environments the battery will perform less). The spread between batteries can also be large.
Therefore, the operating time is always an indication and it is not possible to predict how quickly it will decrease.

Jannie 4.0/4.1: How often do I need to perform maintenance?"
The cleaning and replacement of parts is highly dependent on the environment and the intention in which the robot functions. Below is a guideline you can follow.
Tip; If the brush hairs are pointing in all directions but are not yet worn, you can place them in warm water. The hairs will then return to their original position.
Jannie 4.0/4.1: Remote control operation
For more explanation about the different functions and operation of the remote control, refer to the manual on page 19 and further.
Jannie 4.0/4.1: Attach mopping system
If you have the 2-in-1 Jannie 4.0/4.1 or a separate mopping system, you can see here how to attach the mopping system.
This is quite easy to do by filling the reservoir with water. Then close the reservoir and place it in the robot in the same way as the dustbin. Finally, you can attach the mop plate with the mop cloth.
Watch the video here to briefly see how you can do this:
Jannie 4.0/4.1: Cleaning main brush
Cleaning Jannie's main brush?
- Remove the cover by pressing the two click fingers.
- Remove the main brush
- Cut any hairs wrapped around the brush with the blade in the supplied tool/brush.
- Clean the brush further with the other side of the tool/brush.
- Clean the brush's attachment points in the robot thoroughly. Optionally, lubricate them a little with oil/WD40.
- Reassemble the brush and the cover.
Watch the video here to easily see how you can do this:
Jannie 4.0/4.1: What if it just doesn't fit under the couch or cabinet?"
- If it's a matter of a few mm, the easiest way is to put extra thick furniture felt under the furniture legs.
This will allow the robot to pass under the furniture. - If it's a few centimeters, the robot will bump into it and turn around.
- If both solutions don't work, it's wise to see if something can be placed under it so that the robot cannot go under it.
Jannie 4.0/4.1: Emptying the dustbin and cleaning HEPA filters.
